Points and Travel Interview: You Live, You Learn

By Cacinda Maloney

What have you been up to?

I was just thinking how the holidays come upon us so fast.   As a traveler, I am always scrambling around at the last minute to decide where to go and what to do for the holiday season.   And this year is no different.  My life and my travel plans change in an instant, which is probably why I don’t know where I am going till I am almost already there!  What a way to travel, huh?  This is quite different than the way I used to travel, where I anticipated each day and moment and what I would be doing.  I would plan and plan and then plan again.  Somewhere along the way, the way in which I travel has changed.

Recently, I was interviewed by Mighty Travels, a travel website about  how they “show you the world’s most exciting destinations and how to get there in style.”  Hmmm, sounds like a website I would read!

It was great fun answering all the questions about my travel, as sometimes I am traveling and working so much, I don’t have time to reminiscence about the good (and bad) times I had.

I thought you guys might enjoy a few of my embarrassing travel moments, since I don’t talk about them too often, or about the famous (well, sorta famous) people that I meet along the way.  Like the time I went over to Sergio Castillo’s house for lunch.

Or how about my favorite travel blogger at the moment?  That’s right, it just happens to be… you have to read the interview to find out!

These were just a few of the questions that were asked in my interview with TJ over at Mighty Travels.

Just wanted to comment that I too used to plan holidays well in advance. I am a planner by nature so this was the only option in my mind. However, in the last few years our travel plans have become increasingly last minute. And, you know what? I love it! I love not having to wait so long in between planning and hopping on that plane, I love not having too much time to over-think things. I like that I have become more flexible and spontaneous. Can’t wait to read your Mighty Travels interview!

I guess it is just a different way to view the world! We are quicker to change and quicker to just hopping on that plane and not worrying so much about what will happen… maybe it comes with age! ha!

“I am not one who is traveling the world full time, but instead focus on trips every six weeks of my life, while holding down a job in a business that I own. It takes a lot of planning and work to get these trips to work within our family’s school/work schedules and budget, but somehow I manage.”

Hmmm. Time to update your profile?

Hey Paul, thanks for reading! Let’s see, I wrote that in August of 2012, which pretty much explains how I travel. And in the interview I said “I work full-time, owning a rehabilitation clinic, but will be going full time blogging in the near future. Let’s just say, I live a comfortable life. I work hard, I play hard.” Life changes, and that is just where I am at…hoping to go to full time blogging in the near future.
